The Adult Program
The Adult Program at Friends Hospital provides comprehensive, individualized treatment for adults who suffer from a psychiatric disorder. The goal of this short-term inpatient program is to stabilize acute psychiatric symptoms, provide individuals with the skills necessary to continue their recovery in the community or in another treatment setting, and assist in arranging follow-up treatment.

Program Description Patients, ranging from ages 18 to 55, may be treated in an inpatient setting if they require the safety and intensity of 24-hour psychiatric care. Our highly structured inpatient programs use a cognitive behavioral therapy model In an inpatient setting, adults may participate in group or family therapy, art therapy, recreational activities, substance use or eating disorders groups. Families are important contributors to treatment and therefore family involvement is encouraged, including visitation, family therapy and educational groups. Staff also works closely with families to make sure that their loved one leaves the Hospital with appropriate follow-up care in place. Treatment Team Each patient works with a treatment team that consists of a board certified psychiatrist who serves as medical director and works closely with a clinical manager, rehabilitative therapists, nurses and other mental health specialists with extensive experience and training in adult psychiatric care.
