Family Resource Center Scattergood Building—Friends
Hospital Immediate Support Trained staff familiar with mental illness affecting a relative or themselves operate the center. Someone will listen to you and help you obtain helpful information and/or appropriate resources and contacts. Information The FRC has information about serious mental illness and psychiatric disorders, psychiatric medications, support groups, and resources in the community—and much more. Video Showings Videotapes can be viewed upon request at the FRC. They include dramatizations about mental illness in the family, documentary testimony about ECT, schizophrenia, depression, bipolar as well as instructional information about communication with a person who is hallucinating—and much more. Lending Library The FRC library has books about depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, borderline personality, OCD and Alzheimers. Books about medications, eating disorders and inspirational books are included in the selection. Medication Discussions Our pharmacist gives private, relaxed consultations about medications. He helps consumers and family members understand medications, including side effects and interactions with other drugs you might be taking. Private Coping Consultations Available to family members seeking help in coping with mental illness affecting a family member or other special relationship. *All Services are FREE *Open 12 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday *Schedules are available at Front Desk of the Scattergood Bldg.
