The Greystone Program
The Greystone Program is a private residential rehabilitation program designed to meet the special needs of adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and other major mental illnesses. The Greystone Program Community, located on the grounds of Friends Hospital, is housed within two assisted living residences, known as Greystone House and Hillside House. The mission of the Greystone Program is the significant enhancement in the quality of life for persons with chronic mental illness through holistic health management, a sense of purpose and a productive lifestyle.

Program Description Our therapeutic community is designed to develop each resident’s ability to live in partnership with others. Our understanding of human development over the life-span and the impact on this process by mental illness, is key to promoting wellness and a process of change. A wellness continuum model targets each resident’s holistic care needs to promote an optimal level of function and reintegration into the Friends Hospital campus or greater community. Treatment Team The treatment team consists of a Medical Director, who is a board certified psychiatrist, a Program Director, who is an Advanced Practice Nurse and Clinical Specialist in Adult Mental Health and Psychiatry, Attending Psychiatrists, a Primary Care Physician, a Registered Nurse, a Social Worker and Resident Advisors. |

Evaluation and Admission
If you have a family member, friends, or client who you feel may be appropriate for the Greystone Program, please call or write to the Greystone Program Director. It is important that the person you are referring meets the following criteria:
Be at least 21 years of age
The process of acceptance involves an initial intake by the Greystone Program Director, followed, if appropriate, by an on-site interview of the prospective resident and a family member or guardian. Unfortunately, insurance and third party payers do not cover the cost of this important program.
