Philadelphia's "Top Docs"

The Top Docs list has been compiled by Philadelphia Magazine for nearly two decades. In the past, the magazine polled doctors by mail. This year, the magazine polled doctors all over the Delaware Valley by email and received more than 4,000 responses, its largest pool ever. Any doctor who received at least five votes was put on a working list. Before making the final choices, each doctor on the list was ranked following interviews with four or more physicians in the same specialty. This process was repeated in each of the 60 categories that doctors were ranked in.

Michael Silver, MD, Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Services at Friends Hospital, also was named one of the region’s "Top Docs for Kids" by Philadelphia Magazine in 2001. The ranking, done for the first time in nearly a decade, was calculated based on surveys of area pediatricians and nurses as well as personal interviews with the specialists in different areas of medicine, including psychiatry.
